Privacy Policy
This privacy policy is applicable to the Italofa app (hereinafter referred to as "Application") for mobile devices, which was developed by Benoit Pouzet (hereinafter referred to as "Service Provider") as a Free service. This service is provided "AS IS".
What information does the Application obtain and how is it used?
What information do users provide to the Application?
The Application does not require you to create an account or register. The Service Provider does not ask you to supply personal information such as your name or email address in order to use the Application.
If you enable push notifications, the Service Provider may send you notifications about news and events in New Caledonia. To deliver them, an anonymous push token is stored on the Service Provider's server, together with your platform and language only — it is not linked to any device or user identifier, and it is deleted when you disable notifications. You can disable them at any time in the Application settings or in your device settings.
What information does the Application collect automatically?
The Application does not collect any personally identifiable information. It collects only anonymous technical data:
•
Anonymous usage statistics (via PostHog, hosted in the European Union): screens viewed, interactions, and application events (such as adding a favorite, opening an external link, or downloading the offline map), together with technical metadata (device model, operating system, application version, language, timezone). These events are recorded under a random identifier that is not linked to your identity — the Application has no accounts and never associates this identifier with a name, email address, or any other personal information.
•
Crash reports (via Sentry), without your IP address.
The Application does not use any advertising identifier.
Does the Application collect location information of the device?
No. If you grant the location permission, your device's location is used only on your device — to center the map on your position and to show the weather of the nearest municipality. Your location is never transmitted to the Service Provider or to any third party.
Does the Application use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies?
The Application does not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to process your data or provide features.
What about the italofa.nc website?
The website follows the same principles as the Application. It uses the same anonymous, cookieless analytics: no cookie is stored on your browser, and visits are counted under a server-side hashed identifier that rotates daily and cannot be linked to your identity. Technical errors on the website are reported without your IP address.
Do third parties see and/or have access to information obtained by the Application?
Only aggregated, anonymized data is periodically transmitted to external services to aid the Service Provider in improving the Application and their service. The Service Provider may share your information with third parties in the ways that are described in this privacy statement.
Please note that the Application utilizes third-party services that have their own Privacy Policy about handling data. Below are the links to the Privacy Policy of the third-party service providers used by the Application:
•
Expo (push notifications and application updates)
•
PostHog (usage analytics, hosted in the European Union)
•
Sentry (crash reporting)
The Service Provider may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:
•
as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process;
•
when they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
•
with their trusted services providers who work on their behalf, do not have an independent use of the information we disclose to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.
What are my opt-out rights?
You can halt all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling the Application. You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network.
What is the data retention policy and how can you manage your information?
The Service Provider does not store any personal data. The anonymous push token (if you enabled notifications) is kept until you disable them. Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports are retained by PostHog and Sentry according to their own retention policies. For any question, contact the Service Provider at [email protected].
What are your rights (EU users)?
If you are located in the European Union or the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict the processing of, and receive a copy of the personal data the Service Provider holds about you, as well as the right to object to its processing. To exercise these rights, contact the Service Provider at [email protected].
How does the Application address children's privacy?
The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13.
The Application does not address anyone under the age of 13. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case the Service Provider discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, the Service Provider will immediately delete this from their servers.
